Tori Woods is a writer, content strategist, and marketing professional who lives and works in Cleveland, Ohio.

Tori was raised in a Western suburb of Cleveland. She attended Magnificat High School, where her love of writing and reading was fostered and she was encouraged to develop her personal voice.
Communicating and Writing at Loyola College
Tori next attended Loyola College in Maryland, in Baltimore, Maryland. While at Loyola, she enjoyed leadership roles in the theater department and in a campus political organization. She participated in dozens of theatrical products, was a member of a social justice organization and wrote an opinions column for her college paper, The Greyhound. She also interned during college at The Baltimore City Paper, and studied abroad in Italy, as part of an inventive, multi-media documentary program called The Cagli Project. She was inducted into Lamda Pi Eta, the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association (NCA), and Alpha Psi Omega, the national honorary theatre society. Tori graduated with a B.A. in Communications with a Writing Specialization.
Becoming a journalist at syracuse university
After graduating from Loyola College, Tori attended the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She became a staff writer for the university paper, The Daily Orange, and interned at The Syracuse Post-Standard. She also developed and implemented a volunteer program which taught newspaper journalism to a local class of sixth graders. For this work, Tori and her team were awarded a Chancellor’s Award for Service. She graduated with her M.A. in Magazine, Newspaper and On-Line Journalism.

As the culmination of her master’s degree, in conjunction with her thesis work, Tori served as an editorial intern for Cleveland Magazine. After the completion of her internship, she accepted the position of Editorial Assistant. She wrote articles for various sections of the magazine including City Life, Arts and Entertainment, A La Carte, Travel, Style, the feature well, cover and service packages and special sections, including supplemental publications Home Décor and Elegant Wedding. She also fact-checked articles, wrote the monthly Agenda section and the monthly Newsbites section, among other responsibilities.
Dining and blogging at scene
Tori next served as the Editorial Assistant at Cleveland’s alternative news weekly, Cleveland Scene (when it was operated by Village Voice Media.) In addition to her other tasks, she wrote articles for the paper regarding entertainment and dining. She also contributed to the daily blog, including developing and researching a weekly dining feature, $13 Dining.

Tori next worked in the Marketing and Communications Department of The Cleveland Institute of Art, a world-class institution of higher education for the arts. She facilitated media relations, including press release creation and targeted story pitching. She assisted in communications with the general public through email, direct mail pieces and story writing for alumni publications. Her responsibilities included multi-media projects such as video pod casts, and she managed elements of promotional web content and pressroom content. Tori also partnered with the web department to found, manage and write the CIA blog, which achieved 10,000 unique hits in under a year. She also co-founded a social media policy and methodology, which resulted in CIA achieving 500 Twitter followers in less than a year.
Taking Flight at NASA
Tori worked for S.G.T., Inc. as a Web Content Creator for NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. She worked at Glenn in the Community and Media Relations Office as a member of the web team. Her primary responsibilities included writing feature stories for the NASA website and crafting other content for the site as needed. Additionally, Tori assisted in managing updates to the site, worked within the NASA Content Management System, and participated in other NASA and NASA Glenn web initiatives.
Improvising with Something Dada
Tori is proud to have been a member of Something Dada Improvisational Comedy Company, an arts organization that has been presenting its singular brand of improv comedy in Cleveland for more than 17 years. In addition to being a performing cast member, she served as the Marketing Director, where she coordinated marketing, promotions, event planning, fundraising, donation solicitations, booking, and group ticket sales. Although she has retired from being an active duty Dada, it is not an impossibility to see her make a return appearance upon occasion on the Dada stage.
Creating Content Services at Aztek
Currently, Tori is the Content Strategist for Aztek, a web development and design firm that has been serving Northeast Ohio and clients around the country for more than 15 years. She was brought on board to develop a new area of the web marketing offerings: a robust and inclusive content services program. She manages Aztek’s content services, including content strategy, content audit and analysis, content development and creation, and content editing and revision. She also assists with Search Engine Optimization, information architecture and site maps, Pay-per-Click campaigns, social media strategy, and the Aztek blog.

Tori’s interests and passions are mirrored in her favorite topics on which to write: arts and theater, matters of social justice and human interest, food, dining and cooking, travel, and the quirky, fascinating stories that make life worth living and reading about.
